Our Story

How We Got Into Building Decks

We build and repair decks for homeowners around Allen, and most of us got into this trade doing framing or general carpentry before deck work became the main thing. A deck is one of the few home projects where you can see the whole structure, from the footings to the rail cap, and that's part of what keeps us doing it.

The decks we get called out for are usually failing in the same two spots: a ledger board that was never flashed and is rotting into the house, or footings poured too shallow that have started to heave with the clay soil. We flash every ledger connection before the first board goes down and we pour footings deep enough to sit below the frost line, which is the difference between a deck that's tight in year one and one that's still tight in year ten.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed and Insured

You're covered if something goes wrong on the job site, not just told that you are. We can send certificates before you sign anything.

Straight Written Quotes

We price the lumber, the footings, and the labor separately so you can see where the money goes. No surprise change orders once the frame is up.

Permits Handled

Most cities around here require a permit for a deck over 30 inches high, and we deal with the city on that. If an inspector wants a ledger bolt moved or a hanger swapped, we handle it before it becomes your problem.

Our Own Crew

We don't hand the job to a rotating set of subcontractors. The same people who set your footings are the ones cutting your stair stringers.

Clear Communication

You'll know before the crew shows up and you'll know if rain pushes the schedule. We'd rather give you a real answer than a vague one.

Local to the Area

North Texas clay shifts more than people expect, and it moves footings that weren't set deep enough. We've adjusted how we pour and place footings after years of building in this soil.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

What homeowners want to know about us before hiring.

How long have you been building decks?
Deck construction and repair experience spans years of working specifically with residential decks in North Texas, rather than treating deck work as a side job to general remodeling. That focus is why details specific to decks, like guardrail height and baluster spacing, get handled correctly the first time.
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?
Deck jobs are handled by the same crew from the first footing to the last board, not passed off to rotating subcontractors. That keeps one group of people accountable for the whole build.
Can I see photos of decks you've built before?
Photos of completed deck projects, including framing shots before the decking goes on, are available on request. Framing photos matter because they show what's actually holding the deck up, not just the finished surface.
Why choose a smaller deck builder instead of a large remodeling company?
With a smaller deck-focused builder, the person quoting the job is often the person building it, so less gets lost between what's promised and what gets built. Larger remodeling companies often subcontract deck work out to whoever's available that month.
Where are you based and what areas do you serve?
Oasis Deck Company is based in Allen, TX and serves the surrounding towns within roughly a 50-mile radius. Being local means a shorter response time for repair calls and a better sense of how the clay soil in this area affects footings.
How far in advance do I need to book a deck project?
Booking two to four weeks ahead is typical during the busy spring and summer months, while fall and winter usually have shorter wait times. Repair calls are generally fit in faster than full new builds.
Do you clean up the site after a deck build?
Lumber scraps, old decking, and packaging are hauled off at the end of each work day, not left piled up until the project wraps. A final cleanup pass happens once the last board is installed.
What happens if something gets damaged during construction?
Liability insurance covers accidental damage to the house, fence, or yard that happens during deck construction. Any damage is reported and addressed directly rather than left for the homeowner to discover later.
Will you finish a deck another contractor started or abandoned?
Taking over a partially built or abandoned deck project is something that comes up fairly often. The existing framing gets inspected first to decide what can be reused and what needs to come back out before work continues.
How can I tell if deck work is being done correctly?
Properly done deck framing uses joist hangers rated for the load, a ledger board bolted and flashed rather than just nailed, and footings poured below the frost line. Asking to see these details during construction, rather than waiting until the boards cover them up, is the best way to check the work.
